August 2025 Golf Notes

This season we have fought hard across 13 tough matches with memorable victories against Pollok (3½-2½), Panmure at home (5-3), and a dominant 4-0 triumph over Western Club.  That home win against Panmure in June turned the tables after our earlier away defeat.  We also halved our match with Elie at home.

We have six exciting fixtures remaining, starting with three in August – an away trip to Luffness on August 7th; a home match against New Club on August 14th and then another away trip, this time to the RCA, on August 17th. September brings the Seniors GS match at home, followed by our away fixture against the Caledonian Club, before we close out the season at HCEG in October.

The Summer Meeting was a success.  Looking ahead, George Hay has generously stepped up to organise our Texas Scramble on Sunday, August 10th (thank you, George!). Mark your calendars for the Autumn Meeting on September 18th and the Pinehurst competition on October 3rd.  On the downside, there was a field of only 18 for the Stableford competition on June 10th.

A word of encouragement: while our Stableford competition on June 10th saw a smaller turnout of 18 golfers, every member who participates makes these events special. Your support keeps our club competitions alive and competitive.

Both the singles and foursomes knockouts are proceeding apace, with the singles reaching Round 4 and foursomes entering Round 3 – both due for completion by August 15th.

Looking ahead, the fixture list for 2026 is already partially complete.  Further, The 2026 Autumn Tour is to Duff House Royal, Cullen Links & Inverallachy.  The tour will be staying in the Banff Springs Hotel.
